The first Spectre 341 Challenge has been overshadowed by the death of Alexander Djordjevic, an entrant who was competing in a Porsche 911 Turbo. On the second day of competition, Djordjevic took his silver 996 out for one final run up the hill, eventually plummeting off the side of the course in a fatal accident.

To go fast, and we’re talking Porsche ass kicking fast, Project 240SX would need a lot of camber. Strut-type front suspensions like to have large amounts of static camber on account of their horrible camber curves.

At the recent 2010 Valencia, Spain F1 race, Mark Webber crashed directly into the rear of Lotus’s Heikki Kovalainen and then launched himself off into the air.After landing his Red Bull RB6 into the tire barrier, Webber must have been wondering why he keeps freejacking (yes, Freejack…) racecars. Le Mans 1999, anyone?

Driving the car is also a revelation, with less creaks going up driveways and a noticeably smoother ride over broken pavement. Project 240SX may well see extra bracing and bars soon enough but for one afternoon’s worth of work and less than $100, we’re not complaining.

One of Honda Challenge’s original competitors, Andy was a racer’s favorite for talking admittedly humorous smack online and then following it up at the track. His gold B16-powered Honda CRX was damaged during the CA Speedway exhibition for the JGTC All-Star race, after hitting a tire barrier, and had sat until recently.

The app uses the built-in accelerometers in the iPhone to judge when a car is accelerating, coasting, braking, and by how much. Using a simulated image, the iPhone can then “pretend” to be a GReddy boost gauge, boost controller, turbo, or blow-off valve.

Names such as Michele Mouton and Walter Rohrl have won at Pikes Peak and it still continues to draw drivers to this day. The PPIHC runs a large number of motorcycles and open-wheel machines but there are still quite a few rally cars drawn to the dirt and history.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Audi’s branded Quattro all-wheel drive technology, the autonomous Audi TTS has been covered in a livery reminiscent of their classic rally cars. These were the same colors run on the infamous Audi Sport Quattro S1 rally car, which itself won Pikes Peak with drivers Michele Mouton and Walter Rohrl.

Now they are pulling the wraps off of their E900 package, an even more powerful engine package for the Nissan GT-R that uses E85 ethanol to make more than 800whp. According to the dyno sheet, the GT-R made 806whp and 723 lb/ft of torque on Buschur Racing’s Mustang dyno.
