In the main event, the boiling weekend ultimately came down to a battle of the V8s. Making the final four for his first time, Tony Brakohiapa in the Cooper Tire / BSP Tuskegee Airmen Mustang went up against 2010 season points leader Vaughn Gittin Jr. in the Monster Energy / Falken Tire Ford Mustang for third place.

Round 6 of the Super GT series, the 121 lap race at Suzuka Circuit, held some surprises for the 33,000-strong crowd. Longtime favorite ARTA came out on top again with the new Honda HSV-010 and the Subaru Legacy B4 took its first ever win in the series.

The winning car, inheriting the lead after the demise of BMW Motorsport, was the BMS Scuderia Italia Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Driver Romain Dumas also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, a feat which has not been done since 1949.

In front of 27,000 spectators, the GT500 class put on an exciting race, with the top two cars separated by only 25/1000-second. With only eight laps left in the race, the Motul Autech GT-R developed an electrical problem that ground it down to a dead stop at the last corner.

Taking place in the middle of the California desert, one thing was sure about Redline Time Attack’s “Liberty Grand Prix” – it was hot as hell. The time attack event derived its name from the fact that it took place on July 4th weekend, combining track cars with bbq, beer, and a fireworks display in the middle of the track on Saturday night.
