![]() Are you fast enough for the Octane Challenge? The rules are simple - only the best and fastest cars need apply. Willow Springs International Raceway, "the fastest road in the west", will play host to the OR's own Octane Challenge. We'll be judging the entrants based on popularity, looks and outright speed in our time trial competition. Fast lap during the day counts for 75% of the win and your fan base right here at The Octane Report counts for the other 25%. The winner will recieve a free guaranteed spot in our display booth at the 2009 SEMA Show and free entry into the Super Lap Battle time attack finals event at Buttonwillow Raceway. Update: The dust has finally settled and the results are in. Willow Springs saw some impressively low lap times from the Speedventures/Octane Challenge competitors, all of whom pushed their cars as fast as they could. JC Meynet and his wild time attack Subaru Impreza WRX STI sits on top for now but Andrew Kidd and his low-budget turbocharged Miata are not far off. We originally banned pushrods from entering the event (due to Super Lap time attack rules, which we don't control) but Tom Barrett's friendly character and unique Corvette were just too interesting to pass up. Plus, if he does win here, Barrett promised something just as unique with which to enter the Super Lap Battle finals. Our online polls below are the final step towards crowning the winner of The Octane Challenge. Voting ends on October 23rd and the winner will be announced on October 26th, so click on your favorite competitor and make your vote count!
