Comptech Daytona Prototype Acura NSX V6 Engine

Recently tested at Infineon Raceway and edging closer to its Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series debut, this Daytona Prototype-class racecar is sporting Honda power. Using a 3.9-liter Comptech-built V6, based on the production Acura NSX V6, this prototype is one of the first to use Honda power. Independent from Acura, DP engine development has been carried out by Comptech.

Accepted for homologation in late 2008, the Honda V6s were eligible to compete staring at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in January 2009. Lexus, Pontiac (R.I.P.), Ford, Porsche, BMW and Infiniti all have approved engines sitting inside of DP chassis, many of them V8 models.

The Lozano Brothers’ team uses a Porsche Cayenne-based V8, the only other independently developed approved engine. Up and coming driver Jordan Taylor tested the DP at Infineon, although it remains to be seen who the driving team will consist of.
