Shop Feature – Ziel Sports

Suspension tuning is a black art. With multiple-way adjustable coilovers on both our project cars, we know this as well as anyone else. There’s more to going fast than just bolting in a stiffer suspension and getting a 10-minute lube shop lifetime alignment special. Going fast requires details. Details that are often beyond the understanding of a normal mechanic shop.

Suspension setup requires a knowledge of the damper, what spring stiffness is required (as well as spring length), damping setting, ride height, alignment, corner balance and overall driving balance. Each car needs to be custom tuned to its driver’s ability or preference and off-the-shelf spring rates are often less than optimal. This is where Ziel Sports comes in.

As a distributor for Cross, JIC Magic, OS Giken, Gruppe M and Spec Clutch, Ziel Sports can sell you suspensions, brake pads, springs, clutches, air intakes and differentials. After you leave here, the only thing you’ll be needing is tires and more money in your wallet.

Located in a non-descript beige warehouse in Alhambra, CA, Ziel Sports is almost unrecognizeable from the outside. But, once you enter, you’ll see the multiple lifts, which are often occupied by Porsches and racecars. Suspension setup is Ziel Sports’s specialty and you’ll often see cars awaiting suspension installs or sitting with dunlop gauges and scales sitting nearby.

If you’re serious about going to track, you’re going to want to extract every bit of speed out of what you own. Setup is key for that. And with experience working on Porsches, Shelby GT500s, AMGs and other high-end machines, Ziel Sports is sure to be able to handle even your lowly Chevy Aveo. Ok, maybe not.
