Falken Porsche GT3 RSR – Behind The Scenes
The giant Falken slicks were quickly taken off the car and a set of mounts were bolted on to the hubs. Eliminating the tires as a variable during setup, the in-depth procedure was beyond anything that we’ve seen at the club racing level.
The 4.0-liter flat-six engine remained untouched in the back, sealed by Porsche and ready to race as delivered. Kicking through a triple-plate carbon clutch and six-speed sequential transmission, the engine breathes through two tiny 28.6mm air restrictors hidden inside its carbon airbox.
Required by the rulebook, the air restrictors have the appearance of trumpet horns and one can only wonder how much power the engine could produce should it be uncorked and run at full power.
Here at OR, we’re suckers for racing. We watch it, do it and drive it. Being able to hang out at a racing shop for a few hours always sounds like a good morning to us. It’s an added bonus if that shop just so happens to be working on the most highly developed racecar sold by Porsche.
Focusing their full attention on this 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR chassis, Falken Tire will campaign the entire 2010 ALMS season and continue to develop their Azenis RT Slick racing tire. The GT2 class is one of the most hotly contested classes in road racing today and is shaping up to really grab the spotlight.
Falken’s older 2008 GT3 RSR will now be retired but with their level of preparation combined with a new chassis, we expect to see the Falken colors on the podium very soon.

Does this mean that the falken car is a “factory” Porsche effort?
They’re probably just hiring henzler and are a customer team. Needless to say, Porsche has a lot of customers. Those shocks are to die for though.
